From Social Housing Coalition to Alliance Against Displacement

Alliance Against Displacement has been organizing with communities facing displacement since 2013. In the past three years, we have undergone organizational changes that reflect the needs of communities as well as our development of political analysis.

In 2015, Alliance Against Displacement changed its name from Social Housing Alliance to help reflect our growths. Whereas the Social Housing Alliance focused specifically on displacement pressures in the Metro Vancouver area, the Alliance Against Displacement has broadened our community engagements to include areas outside of the Vancouver region.

As our Related Campaigns and Stop Demovictions Burnaby make clear, we are deeply involved in anti-displacement campaigns within the Lower Mainland. But we have also bridged out to form relationships with communities in places like Victoria, Maple Ridge, and Abbotsford.
